What to Look For
Power and lumens. More watts generally means more lumens, but beam design matters too. A 40 W light with a well-focused reflector can throw further than a 60 W light with a wide flood pattern. Pick spot or spot+flood depending on whether you ride primarily on dark highways (spot) or in fog and city traffic (flood or dual-mode).
Dual-colour beam. Moto Genius VK-series lights offer a white high beam and yellow low beam from a single unit. Yellow light cuts through fog and rain better than white; white gives longer range on clear nights.
IP rating. IP67-rated lights (like the VK60) are fully waterproof. Lower-rated lights handle rain but avoid submersion. For monsoon riding in India, IP67 is the safer choice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are auxiliary fog lights legal on motorcycles in India?
Auxiliary lights are permitted under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules provided they project white or yellow light in a forward direction, do not dazzle oncoming traffic, and are fitted symmetrically. Lights that project rearward or emit red/blue in a forward direction are not permitted. Check your state's traffic enforcement guidelines before fitting, and keep the beam aimed below the horizon line to avoid glare violations during traffic stops.
Do these lights need a relay harness?
Yes. All lights in this collection include a relay-and-switch wiring harness. The relay protects your bike's original switchgear from the higher current draw of auxiliary lights.
Which light is best for Royal Enfield Himalayan or KTM 390 Adventure?
Both bikes have crash guard mounting points that fit most auxiliary light clamps. The MadDog Scout-X and Moto Genius VK30 are popular choices for adventure bikes — compact enough to clear the forks at full lock and bright enough for Himalayan night stages.
